I Scored 94 in IGNOU Assignments: Here's How

I started with the right assignment question paper

Firstly, the assignment was downloaded from the official Current Assignments section of IGNOU. IGNOU advises to search with the programme code or course code and check validity of assignment before downloading.

I checked before composing:

• Code of the program
• Kursnummer
• Workshop
• Instruction language
• Max. marks
• Submission date
• Period of validity

I Re-Read The Questions

I didn’t write immediately. First off I read each question and tried to work out what it was actually asking.

Different approaches are required for words such as explain, discuss, analyse, compare and critically examine.

For instance:

• “Define” needs to mean something specific.
• “Explain” means to explain in detail. “Discuss”: to present different aspects of the topic.
• “Contrast” calls for similarities and differences.
• Critically examine” requires strengths, limitations and balanced conclusion.

Knowing these words for command helped me not to write irrelevant information.

Main source of IGNOU Study Material

I mostly used the official self-teaching material. The assignments are based on the concepts presented in the course blocks. The answers should be in the terminology and structure used in the course blocks.

I did not copy entire paragraphs. I just took the content and made it flow.

I had all of my answers planned out before I wrote

Due to the clear structure the answers were easier to evaluate.

For long answers I used:

• Introduction
• Definition or meaning
• Main explanation by headings
• Application(s) or instance(s)
• Benefits and limitations, where applicable.
• Final comments

This structure allowed the evaluator to quickly find the important points. Also it prevented repetition

I have followed the word limit

More pages do not necessarily mean better marks. The answer should be sufficiently long for the question to be answered but not so long as to repeat points.

I kept close to the suggested word limit and quality.

My answers were :

No needless stories, no copied introductions, no repeated definitions.

How I Enhanced the Presentation

Good presentation does not substitute for weak content but does make for an easier to read strong answer.

IGNOU Assignment Presentation Techniques I have used:

• A4 plain paper

• Black or blue pen
• Included headings and sub-headings
• Underlined key terms
• Left correct spacing between answers
• Every page numbered
• Retained handwriting legibility
• No over-decoration

I didn't use too many colours. A simple academic presentation seemed more professional.

I Created a Full Cover Page

It was all in the cover page.

Some Regional Centre instructions also advise students to mention the enrolment number and programme or course code clearly and obtain an acknowledgement slip at submission.

I posted original answers

Originality was one of the most important reasons behind the high score.

IGNOU Solved Assignments can be useful for understanding the expected format, major points and answer flow. IGNOU Handwritten Assignments may also help learners see how an organised response can be presented.

But I did not copy ready made answers. I merely used the reference material to understand the topic and afterwards I wrote the final response in my own words.

Direct copying can lead to:

The examples were directly related to the question. I did not just throw in some random company names to make the answer seem more detailed.

I Revised Prior to Final Submission

When I completed the assignment I reviewed it carefully.

This final review took care of spelling errors, missing pages and wrong numbering.

I Submitted on Time and Have Proof

I didn't leave it until the very last day. Submission method could be different from Study Centre to Regional Centre so I followed the instructions issued by the allocated centre.

Post submission I held:

• Scanned copy of the assignment
