How to Get a Replacement IGNOU Degree Certificate if Lost

Check Original Awarding Degree

First of all check if the original degree has already been issued to you which you have been awarded by IGNOU. Students who have completed a programme but did not collect or receive the degree may use the degree-delivery or convocation service. Students should not apply for a duplicate in these situations.

Get Your Enrollment Information Ready

To search your academic record, you need to know your enrollment number. Same as printed on your marksheet, provisional certificate and IGNOU ID card.

Make copies of the following:

• Student enrollments
• Code program
• Record name in IGNOU
• Year and session of exit from the program
• Centre's Region Code
• Code of Study Centre (if any)
• Year or convocation number, if known:
• Currently deal with

If you don’t have your IGNOU ID card then verify the enrollment number with other academic documents. Do not assume any number while filling the application for the IGNOU duplicate certificate.

The application form for obtaining duplicate degree, diploma or certificate is available on the website of IGNOU Regional Centre. The form should be listed under Student Corner, Forms or Student Services.

Please download the latest version of the form and read all the instructions before filling it in. Older versions, addresses or payment methods may exist on third party sites.

The application will generally request:

• Student’s full name
• Registration No.
• Programme terminated
• Month and year of testing
• Authors address
• Reason for requesting duplicate copy
• The quantum of the prescribed fee
• Student's signature

The information is written in clear handwriting or typed in if the format allows.

Get the Required Documents Ready

The exact supporting documents may vary as per the latest rules of IGNOU. Typical application may need:

• Duly filled up duplicate degree application form
• Self attested copy of final marksheet/Grade card
• Provisional Certificate (self attested), if available.
• Photocopy of IGNOU ID card or any other valid identity proof Particulars of payment or Demand Draft received.
• Scanned copy of the lost diploma, if available
• Police complaint, diary report or affidavit as required

Payment of IGNOU Duplicate Degree Certificate Fee

The fee for the duplicate degree has to be paid through the mode accepted by the IGNOU. Miscellaneous Fee payments are also available in Official Student Services payment section with online payment through SBI Collect and offline option wherever applicable.

Some of the duplicate degree forms being sold are quoting fee at Rs. 750. Payment instructions and fees are subject to change. The amount is subject to change. Please check the latest official application form or contact the Student Evaluation Division before making payment.

When you checkout type in the right:

• Registration No.
• Student’s name
• Purpose of the payment
• Program Information
• Phone number and e-mail address

Download and print your payment receipt. A bank transaction message may not be enough proof.

Forward application to right IGNOU Office

Please send duplicate degree application to the office indicated on this form. The Regional Centres can assist you with form and procedure guidance but the degree is awarded by the Student Evaluation Division of IGNOU.

Prior to sending the documents:

1. Make sure the form is signed.
2. Kindly attach all the required self attested documents.
3. Please attach the payment slip.
4. Make copies of the entire application in scanned format.
5. Write the correct office address on the envelope.
6. Please send it by registered post.
7. You will be instructed by the official on whether or not to send the application to your Study Centre.

Request for Change of Track

IGNOU does not provide instant online tracking for every duplicate document request. Keep your postal receipt and a copy of your application until you receive your replacement.

In case of no update received after reasonable time, Please contact Student Evaluation Division OR raise grievance through official grievance channel of IGNOU. The division deals with Students Grievances related to degree issuance, certificate verification and examination.

You can verify on an approved academic document platform with a digital degree for a short time. The acceptance of this depends on the employer, university or organisation that asks for the document.
